The Future of Energy and Climate: Energy & Climate Outlook through 2035

OpenMinds is an energy focused think-tank supported by teams as Bain & Company.  In July of 2025, Open minds published it “P50 Energy & Climate Outlook 2025.”  This report provides an updated data-driven forecast through 2035, presenting a “most-likely” pathway for global and U.S. energy systems. It projects global energy demand rising ~15% by 2035 and electricity demand up 50–60%, largely driven by industrial electrification, AI data centers, and building HVAC systems. Renewables surge to ~26% of global energy and 45% of power generation, while coal declines and natural gas holds steady as a flexible bridge fuel. Global CO₂ emissions are peaking, expected to decline ~1% by 2035.  This is excellent base line data to serve as context for evaluating climate tech investments.
